Châtel's Ski Areas: Super-Chatel & Barbossine

Super-Chatel:

The Super-Chatel ski area links with the Barbossine area (see below) and is accessible from the gondola / telecabine that starts from the centre of Chatel. There are a wide variety of slopes in this area and a large area for beginners which is popular with the ski schools, particularly the ESF and the snow park is also here. From here, you can access the ski areas of Torgon, the Corbeau sector of Morgins and the Braitaz area Chapelle D'Abondance (all of which are on the Chatel ski pass).

Once at the top of the gondola, there are various options including several drags, learner areas, the board park is close by and there is also the Morclan chairlift which takes you up to the top of Morclan, from where there are some interesting options! Another option is to ski or board down from the gondola towards Super-Chatel and stop at the Conche chairlift, which will bring you back up above the gondola.

During the 2014/15 season, 2 new chairlifts were built which now link Super-Chatel with Lac Vonnes and Linga.

Torgon is accessible via the Tour du Don lift (drag) and Morgins via the Chalet Neuf draglift.

For the children in this area, there is a themed "Milka" run (Milka, as in the chocolate bar brand) and there are animal markers and figures to educate about the local wildlife. There will also be Milka promotions, often scheduled around the school holiday periods.

There are ski lockers available to rent at the top of the Super-Chatel gondola which are heated and each will fit up to 5 pairs of skis and boots. Tel: 0033 (0) 450 733424 for booking enquiries.

Barbossine:

The Barbossine area is often the quietest area of the village, however it should not be ignored. It is linked with the Super-Chatel area but the main chairlift runs out from Petit-Chatel (in two parts as the Petit-Chatel & Barbossine chairs), and takes you up to the Tete du Tronchet. From there it is fairly straightforward to access Torgon and also the Braitaz area of Chapelle d'Abondance.
