Skiing / Snowboarding For Children:

Children of all ages are catered for at Chatel's ski schools and 2 of them have specific areas, specifically designed for the littlest ones to gain their first skiing experiences. The authors of this website have had good experiences with both the ESF Piou Piou and Chatel Sensations kids schools, with their youngsters sliding on skis for the first time. One of our children who learnt to ski as a toddler in Chatel has represented Great Britain at international level in slalom and giant slalom!

For Little Skiers:

Club Piou Piou: This is a Ski school run by the ESF and is designed for children aged 3 to 6 and is aimed at getting the little skiers up to the ESF "Ourson" level. The indoor facilities are very good and staff are mostly English speaking with all the facilities that you would expect to keep the little ones entertained when they are not on the special kids piste opposite. The ski slope has 2 rope tows and 1 ski tow and snow cover is guaranteed snow cover (snowmaker).

Jardin Des Pitchounes: "Nursery introducing children aged 3 to under 5 years to their first skiing experience.
Next to the Linga gondola lift. Especially equipped safe enclosed area. Heated chalet with rest area and toilets. The Jardin des Pitchounes offers a choice of childcare times and options so you can enjoy your holiday the way you want to. Our ski nursery introduces children to skiing in complete safety in the form of fun games. Snow guaranteed, floodlit piste."

The "Milka Run" At Super-Chatel:

For the children in this area, there is a themed "Milka" run (Milka, as in the chocolate bar brand) and there are animal markers and figures to educate about the local wildlife. There will also be Milka promotions, often scheduled around the school holiday periods.

Child Care For Little Non-Skiers:

The Mouflets Creche: Nursery for the ages of 4 months to 5 years old. Meals prepared on site and the creche is open from 8am until 7pm. For more information call the creche between 1pm and 3pm on +33 (0)4 50 81 38 19 or you can visit the website at:
