Welcome to ChatelWeb.com, reporting to you throughout the year, from the wonderful resort of Châtel in the Portes du Soleil. We'll be bringing you daily updates on snow conditions, as well as a snow forecast, photos, videos and lots, lots more...

Châtel sits at the head of the picturesque Abondance valley, in the vast and world famous Portes du Soleil skiing area, in the Chablais area of the Haute Savoie region of France.

Chatel Snow

Châtel has retained its traditional savoyarde character and architecture and is a beautiful place to visit in both summer and winter. There is a mix on the hillsides and valley bottoms of old and new chalets, barns and farm buidlings, giving Châtel a charming and "authentic" air, which feels different to some of the other more purpose built ski resorts that are found in the French Alps. The Chatel ski areas are excellent, offering skiing and snowboarding for all abilities along with easy links to the rest of the vast ski area that is the Portes du Soleil.

Latest Chatel Snow Report - updated 21/02/2017: 6.20pm

The sunshine of recent days has been replaced by cloudy skies today, which brought some light showers and only one or two brighter interludes. The showers fell as rain on the vast majority of the ski area, with under 0.5mm of rainfall showing in the local rain gauge, meaning that if it had been snow, it would have brought about 0.5cm of snow - so negligible amounts of precipitation, however, it has made it a rather damp feeling day on the ski area. This morning, we found the early pistes to be soft, fairly wet, but fun and fast and a few runs were made before the traffic increase... click here for the full report & photos...
